Description

About the Book:

Prejudice is generally thought to be a conscious, if malevolent, phenomenon, something that can be overcome. Not so, according to leading psychologists Banaji and Greenwald. As the creators of numerous groundbreaking studies, they show that whether we believe it or not, prejudice and unconscious biases toward others are a fundamental part of the human psyche. This is an accessible and groundbreaking look at the science of prejudice, and how we can learn and grow from better understanding our biases.

About the Author:

MAHZARIN R. BANAJI, a professor of psychology at Harvard University, studies human thinking within a social context, with a focus on mental systems operating in implicit mode. Dr. Banaji served as secretary of the American Psychological Society, and as associate editor of Psychological Review and of Journal of Experimental Social Psychology.

ANTHONY G. GREENWALD, a professor of psychology at the University of Washington, has developed new methods that have led to the documentation of unconscious and automatic processes in human cognition. Greenwald has published over 140 scholarly articles and has served as an editor of Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.
